Drawing from Observation

7th/8th Grade Art is learning about "Drawing from Observation" which is defined as drawing or painting from life. Some examples are still life drawings, figure drawing, and landscape drawing. We are going to be drawing scenes from everyday life, in the classroom.

First, we made "view finders" to narrow our perspective and form the composition of our drawings.

Here is a student example from a few years ago.

7th/8th Grade "All About Me" Collages

7th/8th Grade Art reviewed collage art. We discussed what "communities" we are a part of, i.e. family, school, geographical, religious, clubs/sports, etc. Then, we talked about how those communities influence our every day life. These collages will tell the audience about our selves and what is most important to us!

Here's an "All About the Teacher" example! Can't wait to share our progress!

PS. Bring magazines to class! :)

Starting the year off with Self Portraits!

Lower school art will create "mini me" self portraits!

Middle school art will create #selfies as a "get to know you" project!

Welcome back to school! I am excited for the new year and all the fun projects!

This year, our theme is from Proverbs 3:5-6
Trust in the Lord your God with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding.
In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will make your paths straight.
